We’re gonna lead off with that sneak peek at the cover for CRIMSON KING, because we think it’s just grand. And it works as the perfect segue into our first topic: December and January. To be more exact, our lack of coming availability during those two months, but we promise it’s for a good cause.
Books!
We are knee-deep in production work for next year’s slate of books, and by the time December rolls around, we will be hip-deep. Eventually, we will be up to our shoulders. Then, drowning, dead, and reborn on the other side of it all. But the only way out is through… or so we’ve been told.
All of next year’s Bizarro Pulp Press titles should be wrapped (completely, in and out) by the end of January. We’ve shown off bits of art, here and there, but full covers and wraps and snippets of text will kick off on February 1st, which happens to be a Monday, so also an excellent way to start off the week.
We’ll preview Ronald J. Murray’s LOST LETTERS TO A LOVER’S CARCASS that week. Street date is still July, and likely to drop on the 30th.
During the week of February 8th, we’ll have a look at Luke Kondor’s THE RUN FANTASTIC, which is eyeing an August 27th release.
The week of February 15 is for Kyle Wright’s IN CONTROL. We are expecting this novella to release on September 24th.
Week of February 22nd, J.B. Rockwell’s CRIMSON KING will rear its proverbial head. We are hoping to see this one hit on October 29th.
Simultaneously, during this hectic December and January, we will be working on Hailey Piper’s QUEEN OF TEETH (Strangehouse Books), Don Noble’s PULP TRASH: the Complete Short Works of D.F. Noble (Rooster Republic), and Nicholas Day’s OCTOBER ANIMALS (Rooster Republic). Production for these may be a bit more intense, especially on the art end. Honestly, at this point, it is hard for us to put an exact date on when we will begin sharing work from these projects, but safe to say March, at the very latest.
So, to recap, lots of art and lots of editing and lots of production work on no less than seven different titles!
Having laid that all out, if you are looking for cover art or any other freelance work, then you may find yourself waiting until February 2021, unless you’re picking up a pre-made cover. We have a schedule, believe it or not, and we plan on sticking to it like glue. And this is a good thing, because it means we can spend as much time as we need working on some really stellar books.
The QUEEN OF TEETH trade paperback will very likely have a street date of November 1st. However, like our 2020 titles, QUEEN OF TEETH will have a limited edition hardcover, which will go up for pre-order on January 1st and remain available for pre-order until June 30th. If all goes to plan, then the hardcover will begin shipping by late July/early August. More details will be released in the coming weeks.
PULP TRASH: the Complete Short Works of D.F. Noble will ONLY be available as an oversized limited edition (8.5″x11″). The book will contain a multitude of exclusive artwork, plus personal and fan favorites. This title will also be available by pre-order beginning on January 1st. The cut-off date for pre-order will be July 30th. We hope to start shipping this book in September.
Nicholas Day’s OCTOBER ANIMALS, a novella, will also ONLY be available as a limited edition hardcover. Like the other two titles, its pre-order goes live (via Rooster) on January 1st, with a cut-off date of July 30th. Shipping is tentatively set for September.
In addition to the standard special editions, we are looking at producing a very, very limited quantity of deluxe special editions for each title, but that’s about as much as we can divulge, for now…
Many more details to hash out in the coming weeks, lots of art and words to share, but most of all a whole bunch of WORK!
Rooster Republic and Strangehouse Books have come along way in the last four years, and we hope you enjoy what we are unleashing in year five!
Thanks, as always, for reading. Stay safe out there!
