INTRODUCTION…

Hello, and welcome to Two-thousand Word Terrors. We are pleased to have you join us, and we hope you keep coming back each week to see the sights we have to show you! You are going to find a little bit of everything in this collection of tales: human and inhuman; existential and immediate; comic and tragic. We cast a wide net on purpose. After all, Horror is a big umbrella and a whole lot of different types of stories fit snuggly under the canopy.

Further, we wanted to create an anthology that served as something as a “thank you” to all of you who have supported the press over these last few years. We’ve never been the belle of the ball, so to speak, but the following we do have has helped us give a wonderful platform to numerous authors who command serious talent. Our back catalog speaks for itself, I hope.

So, here we go. Nearly 100,000 words in total, and all of it 100% free via the Rooster Republic website. Every Monday, for the next 45 weeks, we are hosting a brand-new horror short story. An online anthology unlike, we think, any other. And, again, we thank all our supporters and all the talent who have helped bring this project into fruition.

You can (and should!) bookmark this page and revisit it as the year carries on. As stories go live, they will be linked in the above “table of contents,” so that you can revisit or read in the order you desire after all is said and done. Don’t forget, stories live and die depending on the eyes reading them, so if a particular tale catches your interest, then share, share, and share again. In an age often at the mercies of social media, our platform is your platform, and vice versa.

Much love to all the writers working hard and to all the readers searching for new words.
