The street date for the trade paperback of FAIREST FLESH has been moved out by about a month and change. The title is now expected to release on December 1st, 2020 (instead of October 31st). The reason for this is simple: MARKETING.
FAIREST FLESH is a debut novel, and Rooster Republic/Strangehouse Books is as indie as it gets, all things considered, so in order to give this book the best release possible, we opted to move the release date to accommodate more time for lead-in marketing. Mostly, this translates to us getting the book into the hands of more reviewers, which we have been grinding away at for the better part of this week. And we’re rolling the dice on some bigger venues because, frankly, we believe this book deserves all the eyes we can get on it.

Paul Tremblay (A HEAD FULL OF GHOSTS and SURVIVOR SONG) had this to say about FAIREST FLESH:
“Deftly mashing together notorious historical figures, feminism, and the grimmest of fairy tales, FAIREST FLESH is as brutally horrifying as it is mesmeric. Consider me a K.P. Kulski fan for life.”
Well, we’d say it looks like it’s time for . . . FLESH! This book will undoubtedly garner a lot of word of mouth, and it deserves every bit of it! Rooster Republic looks forward to hearing and seeing reader’s responses to this outstanding novel.

So, without any further babble from us . . .

Uncertainty looms large. We had plans, big changes we wanted to implement, but most of those plans have been, at the very least, put on hold. The exceptions being the books we planned on releasing in 2020. Those are still happening, regardless. And we keep pushing the boundaries of our freelance production work, though we’ve shelved some of the more expensive ideas until we see how the summer and fall play out, financially. Luckily, we are adaptable and only answerable to ourselves, so most of these setbacks are only perceptible to us and only aggravate us.
Onwards, then, and upwards.

Well, what an extremely interesting spring it has turned out to be! Challenging, perhaps a bit hectic, but also fairly rewarding. NOT ALL MONSTERS special editions have sold rather well, especially since we decided to release the title without much in the way of marketing or fanfare, but we felt it necessary and best for the book.
