Stoker Prelims and a sneak peek at Hailey Piper’s QUEEN OF TEETH hardcover art

What a week and change! Great stuff happening in the indie horror community, these days, and no further proof needed than to see HOW MANY indie titles hit the Bram Stoker Award preliminary ballot. Holy smokes, folks! And congratulations to everybody, not just the writers, but the publishers and readers and the folks tirelessly pushing this stuff in their circles. We see you and appreciate you!

And what really blew us away was seeing ALL THREE of our 2020 Strangehouse titles on the ballot:

NOT ALL MONSTERS

FAIREST FLESH

CRADLELAND OF PARASITES

We also noticed several titles we’ve contributed to on the preliminary, and we wanted to take a moment to highlight those books:

CRIES TO KILL THE CORPSE FLOWER (Ronald J. Murray) was an acquisition for Bizarro Pulp Press, and it was our first title that we handled for the Journalstone imprint, so seeing its inclusion delighted us to no end!

THE AMERICAN (Jeffrey Thomas) was released on Journalstone’s main line of titles, and the cover art was handled by Rooster Republic.

And we also spotted two Trepidatio titles for which Rooster Republic handled cover duties: THE CUCKOO GIRLS (Patricia Lillie); A SEASON OF LOATHSOME MIRACLES (Max D. Stanton).

It is always nice to get news on Friday that you just know is going to take you through the next week. In the meantime, we will now be waiting just as patiently as these authors for the final ballot.

And we will try not to chew our nails or tap our feet too much.

In other news, work continues on our 2021 projects. We plan on giving readers a chance to read the entire first chapter of Nicholas Day’s OCTOBER ANIMALS in the near future. Stunning black and white artwork for Don Noble’s PULP TRASH keeps on coming. And we have started work on the hardcover edition of Hailey Piper’s QUEEN OF TEETH.

Later this week, we will put up our last article for January, and we hope to give you a look at prototypes for our custom slipcases, bookmarks, and stickers. These are all starting to come together very nicely, but you’ll have to wait until March before we get into finished designs, because February is coming up fast, and that month is dedicated to Bizarro Pulp Press titles, and covers, and samples from the books.

Until then, tide yourself over with a little tiny sneak peek at in-progress production art for QUEEN OF TEETH:

Cannot wait to show you more of this stuff. These books are looking fantastic.

Thanks for reading!
