An ongoing series of articles spotlighting movies, music, art, comics, and other assorted media.

…an ongoing series of articles spotlighting movies, music, art, comics, and other assorted media that we at Rooster Republic Press find ourselves enjoying. Once a week, on Thursdays, we will showcase new and old works and, hopefully, help spread the word on great stuff you might otherwise miss out on.

RoosterVision was previously the name of our non-fiction imprint, and since those titles and that line of books are no longer, we have decided to resurrect RoosterVision for the purpose of this showcase. Enjoy!

Allow us to indulge in a little self-promo: QUEEN OF TEETH is a spectacular little body-horror love story. We were delighted to pick up this book, and we feel incredibly lucky to have been a part of its publication. And it excites us to no end to see Hailey Piper’s career continue to mutate into a bigger, more beautiful monster with each passing week.

In case you missed the news, Piper’s NO GODS FOR DROWNING is set up at Polis Books via their Agora imprint. We expect that book to make some waves, for sure. If Piper isn’t on your radar now, she will be. Meanwhile, we won’t excuse you for wanting to catch up by grabbing a copy of QUEEN OF TEETH, which very recently nabbed a starred review from Library Journal:

“Readers who like old school science fiction dystopias (à la Philip K. Dick), with a healthy dose of cosmic awe (as in Caitlin Kiernan’s “Tinfoil Dossier” series) and a few dashes of kaiju mayhem, will be in horror heaven with this mesmerizing, original, and breathtaking debut.”

This is the book’s second starred review, coming hot on the heels of TEETH‘s Kirkus review:

“…an intoxicating mix of graphic body horror and lesbian romance. Painful questions regarding corporate accountability, personal redemption and forgiveness, mental health, and the nature of love revolve around the novel’s three fascinating main characters, Yaya, Doc, and Magenta…

A powerful, beautiful horror story.”

Currently, the book is sitting on 62 ratings and 28 reviews at Goodreads. Over on Amazon, the book has a total of 16 ratings and 10 reviews. Now… we are going to climb up this here mountain and shout into the universe:

Rooster Republic Press, in association with Strangehouse Books, is officially beseeching you, dear readers, to review QUEEN OF TEETH. We feel like we are allowed to get a little fervent on behalf of a great book. Please, indulge us.

Publishing is neither cheap, easy or terribly fun. Rewarding, certainly. But a sense of fulfillment does not keep the machine going. Every review makes QUEEN OF TEETH more visible. Every review of QUEEN OF TEETH draws more readers to the book.

We are a scrappy outfit, to be sure, but we are ultimately at the mercy of readers and reviews. Make no doubt about it, we always need more of both. Every indie publisher does.

Don’t care for Amazon? That’s fine. QUEEN OF TEETH is available through Ingram, which means you can get the book from just about anywhere that sells books. You can definitely order it through your local library. And you should!

Now, we climb down from the mountaintop and return to the earth. That’s enough shouting today, thank you.

And, thanks for reading. We appreciate it.
