We are breaking from the usual “RoosterVision” format for this post.
Right off the bat, to clear up any confusion: we neither own nor operate Bizarro Pulp Press.
Rooster Republic Press only acquires titles and produces art for the Journalstone imprint. This is, in just about every sense, a “for the love” endeavor. Our arrangement is very much in the vein of “no strings attached” and we are given free rein as far as what we pick up and the art we produce. Additionally, this arrangement, however agreeable, isn’t something we expect to do forever. There will come a day where we seek to hand over the metaphorical reins to someone else.
Today, though, is not that day.
What is today, you ask? Today is the last day BIPOC authors can turn in their Big Weird pitches! You have until midnight, wherever you may be.
Accepted pitches will be contacted by us before the end of October 4th.
Accepted pitches will be announced by us via this site on October 29th, just in time for Halloween weekend. We will begin revealing cover art and synopsis of these titles on January 31st, 2022. The titles will begin rolling out during the 2022 summer and into that fall.
For the 2021 roster, we acquired the following four titles:
Ronald J. Murray’s LOST LETTERS TO A LOVER’S CARCASS
Luke Kondor’s THE RUN FANTASTIC
For 2020, the following four titles were released:
Ronald J. Murray’s CRIES TO KILL THE CORPSE FLOWER
Karl Fischer’s LEVELS
Andrew J. Stone’s THE ULTIMATE DINOSAUR DANCE-OFF
John Bruni’s TALES OF UNSPEAKABLE TASTE
We have had a lot of fun working with the folks at Journalstone and we expect 2022 to be no less entertaining.
Next week, “RoosterVision” will return to its regular format.
Good luck to everyone who pitches! We look forward to another year of bringing readers the weirdest and the wildest indie creations we can find.
Thanks for reading!
