Commission Complete: Adam Millard and Bloodshot Books

I’ve been working with Pete Kahle for almost a year now through his press Bloodshot Books, and I’ve been privileged to work with Adam Millard a couple times in the past. Luckily, I’ve gotten to meet them both by doing various shows across the country, (Adam once won a prize at a Bizarro Showdown by waxing his own chest while telling jokes and was gifted a giant rubber fist for his performance)  and it’s always a pleasure joining up with people who have such a passion for horror. Pete has been a staple in my freelancing, and has been a blessing to work with. Both of these guys have a great track record of interesting projects and they’re definitely worth following. I’ve provided some links below.

Not All Monsters: Art Reveal

A piece created late last night, an interior image for the upcoming NOT ALL MONSTERS anthology coming through our imprint Strangehouse Books in 2020. This piece, titled Iron Angel, is part of a series that will be found in a special edition of the anthology, and will also be available as prints and posters and various other designs. For more info and important folks to follow on the subject, you’d do well to find Sara Tantlinger on Twitter @SaraJane52 and Nicholas Day on Twitter @nickdayonline

Commission Complete: Horror for Raices and Nightscape Press

Another recent commission for Nightscape Press and their charity line, this time to help raise money for RAICES. I love working with this press, and this particular venture has an amazing line up of authors working for a worthy cause. Nightscape is a huge blessing to the indie horror circles and you should definitely check them out.

Commission Complete: Michael Cisco and Nightscape Press

I’ve been honored to work with Nightscape Press for the last year or so across various projects, but most importantly their charity books. I was thrilled when they asked me to tackle Michael Cisco’s latest release. He’s a great writer for one, and for two, part of the profit goes to charity. Win-win. Here’s where you can find them –

Commission Complete: Sam Richard and Nihilism Revised

I’ve been able to work with Sam a bit before (he’s a great dude), but last week he approached me with an idea for his new book through NihilismRevised that I could not ignore.  There was beauty in the simplicity of it, and being a fan of minimalism, I jumped at it. It was also my first chance to work with S.C. Burke, the head of NihilismRevised, and it wasn’t only smooth, but a joy to put the cover and jacket together. I don’t think the full image of the jacket has been released yet, but if you love horror and transgressive fiction, it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on these guys.

Commission Complete: Sisters of Slaughter and Death’s Head Press

I’ve been working quite a bit with Death’s Head Press over the last year and I was definitely honored when they asked me to help make a cover for the Sisters of Slaughter, a writing team made up by Michelle Garza and Melissa Lason that I’ve been working on and off with over the years. If you’re looking for more horror in your diet, then I have provided links below to find both Death’s Head Press and SoS.

Cover Reveal for NOT ALL MONSTERS

Ok, we will keep this post short and sweet because we know you’re just here for the good stuff and not our rambling. After a little back-and-forth over the weekend, a front cover was finalized for the upcoming Strangehouse anthology, Not All Monsters. We like it, and we hope you like it, too!

Check it out:

Not All Monsters v2

We won’t have a full wraparound until the interior is finished, which will be awhile as the individual stories are still going through edits, but we wanted to share this with you.

Hope you’re looking forward to the book!

Post-Stoker Roundup and a look at the TOC for Not All Monsters!

Well, the last couple years have seen a fair amount of ups and downs, but something mighty impressive will have to happen to surpass the thrill of seeing Sara Tantlinger win a Stoker Award for her book of poetry, The Devil’s Dreamland. You can read Sara’s own re-cap HERE at her website.

Just… holy smokes. There were tears and hugs and adult beverages. So many beverages.

DD Stoker

The award, if you’ve never seen one in person, is heavy enough to double as a weapon, should the need arise. And it has a little functioning door that opens to a very pretty and very polished plaque that names the award, the name of the work awarded, and the author. Very fun. Appropriately macabre, given the subject matter.
